Tasting Notes
This wine is Ageing in French barrels which are 50% new oak, they are kept in the barrels for 17 months which gains the fullness and density as it matures. The merlot reveals different characteristics, which makes it juicy and fruity and bursting with freshness. The 2019 Giscours has turned out very well in a bottle, wafting the glass with aromas of sweet berries, cherries, burning embers, lilac and violets. This is a full bodied wine with a velvety seamless profile and bright animating acids. Alexander Van Beek and his team are taking this estate to heights it hasn't hit since the 1970's, and this is another of the great bargains of the 2019 en primeur campaign.
