Bouchard Père et Fils
On October 10th, we had the pleasure of visiting Bouchard Père et Fils, one of Burgundy’s most prestigious wineries, with a history dating back to 1731. Over nearly 300 years, the domaine has grown into one of the largest and most respected wine producers in the region, owning 130 hectares of vineyards, including 12 hectares of Grand Cru and 74 hectares of Premier Cru. Our tour took us through their fascinating underground cellars, located in the historic 15th-century Château de Beaune, which stretch beneath the streets of Beaune and provide the perfect conditions for aging wines. Some bottles in their collection even date back to the 19th century!
We then enjoyed a tasting of their exceptional wines, each showcasing the elegance and craftsmanship of this iconic domaine. The wines we tasted included: Beaune Les Grèves, Beaune Les Teurons, Beaune Clos de la Mousse, Volnay Frémiets, Le Corton, Beaune Clos Saint-Landry, Meursault Genevrières, and Corton-Charlemagne. Bouchard Père et Fils is known for its terroir-driven wines, focusing on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with a commitment to sustainable viticulture and organic practices. It was truly an unforgettable experience.
