Château Ausone

Our next stop was the renowned Château Ausone, an illustrious wine estate located in the Saint-Émilion appellation. It had previously held the prestigious ranking of Premier Grand Cru Classé in the classification of Saint-Émilion, although it no longer held this status as of 2022. Nestled within the hillside of the southern outskirts, this historic estate spans 7.3 hectares, making it one of the most revered in the region. What's remarkable is that the family still resides in the chateau.

During our visit, we were given a comprehensive tour, beginning with a glimpse of the vineyard and then proceeding to the vats and cellars. We were warmly guided by the son of the family, who graciously provided us with the unique experience of sampling their wines directly from the barrels using a large glass pipette.

Our journey continued as we were invited into the chateau to savor two distinct wines: the Chateau Simard Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2016 and the Chateau D'Ausone Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2016, making our visit to Château Ausone truly memorable.
