Château Beychevelle

We had the pleasure of touring Château Beychevelle, one of Bordeaux’s most historic and elegant estates. Founded in the 17th century, the château takes its name—“Beautiful Sail”—from the tradition of flying a gilded sail on the Garonne whenever the estate’s wines were served to royalty. Its stunning architecture is inspired by this iconic label, and we were shown the beautifully designed building before exploring the cellars beneath the vats, which have preserved centuries of winemaking heritage.

Next, we moved to the tasting room, where we sampled two exceptional wines: Château Beychevelle Grand Vin 2018, reflecting the estate’s signature elegance and depth, and Amiral de Beychevelle, a superb second wine that offers both finesse and approachability. Both wines exemplify the balance, precision, and character that have made Château Beychevelle a pillar of Bordeaux winemaking for generations.
