Louis Latour
On this beautiful afternoon, we concluded our day with a visit to Louis Latour, our last tour of the day. We were warmly greeted by our guide at the main chateau and then taken on a tour of the cellars and vats. Here, we saw some of their oldest wines, dating back to the 1800s. After exploring the building, we ventured out to the vineyards for a closer look.
We then returned to the family home and chateau, where we entered the elegant tasting room. There, we were generously offered a tasting of three whites and three reds:
Whites:
- Santenay 2020: A delightful white with bright acidity and notes of green apple and citrus.
- Meursault-Blagny Premier Cru 2020: Rich and complex, featuring flavors of ripe pear, toasted almonds, and a hint of vanilla.
- Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2020: A stunning grand cru with a perfect balance of minerality and creamy texture, offering notes of lemon zest and white flowers.
Reds:
- Aloxe-Corton 2020: A robust red with flavors of dark cherry, plum, and a touch of earthiness.
- Beaune Clos du Roi Premier Cru 2020: Elegant and refined, this wine presents aromas of red berries, spices, and subtle oak.
- Corton Grancey Grand Cru 2020: A powerful and sophisticated grand cru, showcasing rich layers of blackberry, blackcurrant, and a hint of chocolate, with well-integrated tannins.
This memorable visit to Louis Latour offered us a wonderful glimpse into their heritage and a chance to experience their exquisite wines firsthand.
